What was the smartest thing your company did in the past year?

“We increased our advertising. For over 50 years, Marty’s has been best known for great pizza and we have been making people aware that Marty’s has many other items besides pizza including a variety of pastas, subs, burgers, salads, sandwiches and more. Marty’s also ramped up marketing for our catering opportunities and the different sizes of pizzas plus pastas and subs we carry for business meetings special events and family get-togethers.”

What is new at your company?

“We have made available a new breakfast pizza and have been starting deliveries of the breakfast pizza at 8 a.m. It has become especially popular for early morning meetings for people that want something different than the usual donuts and bagels. Marty’s has also expanded its catering menu to include taco and fajita bars and enchilada trays.”


What is the hottest trend in your industry?

“Specialty pizzas. Besides the breakfast pizza, we have seen success with our spinach chicken alfredo pizzas, barbecue chicken pizzas, taco pizzas, all meat deluxe pizzas and our chicken club pizzas.”

Do you have a business mantra?

“Offer great food and great service at reasonable prices. During these times customers are treating dining as entertainment. They want an enjoyable time out and great food without it costing a lot. Marty’s has many dinners in the $6 to $9 range that compare to other restaurants $12 to $16 dinners. Plus our portions are so large most customers take home leftovers. Be flexible and listen to your customers. We have many requests for special items for catering. We can honor these requests with a 24 to 48 hour notice. By being an independent restaurant, we can do whatever we want and are not limited to our menu. We have done baked chicken, prime rib, build your own sandwiches, salad bars, and much more that we have delivered to companies or residences for special events.”

What was the best advice you ever received?

“Do what you do best and do not worry about what the competition does. We have had the same pizza recipe since 1957 and in my opinion nothing can compare. With 100 percent real mozzarella, and our own secret pizza crust, pizza sauce, and sausage recipe it brings customers back.”
