Tampa, Fla.-based Checkers Drive-In Restaurants Inc. is looking for franchisees to operate restaurants in the Milwaukee area and plans to add 10 to 15 locations in the southeastern Wisconsin region during the next 10 years, according to Checkers executive vice president of franchise development Jennifer Durham.
Checkers is a chain of fast food restaurants with a menu that includes burgers, fries, chicken and ice cream. The company has 800 locations, mostly franchised, in 20 states including six in Wisconsin. In the Milwaukee area there are three Checkers locations in the city of Milwaukee.
“We are looking to bring more Checkers to Milwaukee just as soon as we can find franchise partners,” Durham said.
The new Checkers locations could be new ground-up construction or conversion of existing buildings.
The first new restaurant in the area could open as soon as next year, Durham said.
