Another huge Wisconsin cranberry harvest

Despite the summer drought that hammered much of Wisconsin's agriculture industry this year, the state's cranberry farmers are expected to harvest 4.5 million barrels of cranberries during the fall harvest, according to U.S. Department of Agriculture projections.

Some reflections for this Labor Day

MANDI nominations to begin Saturday

Milwaukee's Local Initiatives Support Corporation will accept nominations for Milwaukee Awards for Neighborhood Development Innovation (MANDI) starting Saturday, Sept. 1. The awards honor initiatives focused on progressing Milwaukee's central city for employees, residents and students. Individuals, nonprofits, companies and projects can self-nominate or take nominations from other community members or organizations.

Milwaukee Ballet tickets available for discounted price

Milwaukee Ballet fans eager to see Michael Pink’s annual Nutcracker production can purchase discounted tickets Monday, Sept. 10, through Wednesday, Sept. 12. Milwaukee radio celebrities bartend to benefit charities

As part of Bayshore Town Center's first annual Shop & Dine Week, area radio personalities will serve as celebrity bartenders at Bayshore restaurants to raise funds for the charities of their choice. Tips they receive during their hours bartending will go directly to their charities, and Bayshore Community Foundation will match their tip total. The celebrity bartenders will serve Monday, Sept. 10, through Thursday, Sept. 13.

Medical College of Wisconsin receives grant to research ear infections

The Medical College of Wisconsin and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Research Institute will use a $1.6 million grant to research ear infections and target new treatment methods to prevent ear infections from leading to hearing loss and other complications.
