The Milwaukee Bucks will host a groundbreaking ceremony on Saturday to celebrate the start of construction work for the team’s new arena. The ceremony will be part of the team’s second annual summer block party, which will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Park East corridor downtown.
The official arena groundbreaking ceremony will begin at 11:30 a.m. and will be held at the southwest corner of Juneau Avenue and Fourth Street.
Bucks owners Wes Edens, Marc Lasry, Jamie Dinan and Mike Fascitelli, former Bucks owner Herb Kohl, current Bucks players, including Jabari Parker and Steve Novak, and several former Bucks players including Oscar Robertson, Jon McGlocklin, Bob Dandridge, Bob Lanier, Sidney Moncrief, Marques Johnson, Wayne Embry and Fred Roberts, are expected to attend the ceremony.
Following the ceremony, the Bucks Block Party will continue into the streets with local music acts, food vendors and interactive kids games.
The event is free of charge to attend.
Bucks fans will have the opportunity to sign one of the first foundation piles that will be used during the construction of the arena.
The $524 million, 714,000-square-foot arena is scheduled to open in fall 2018.
