  • Thursday, March 8 The Business Marketing Association (BMA) Milwaukee chapter will host “Building Online Communities and Leveraging LinkedIn” at the Italian Conference Center, 631 E. Chicago St.  The program begins at 4:30 p.m. with a success seminar lead by Ajax Social Media from Chicago.  Ajax is the only LinkedIn certified LinkedIn Live partner in North America.  A networking reception will follow the seminar.  At 6:15 the dinner program featuring Kyleen Fishwick, director marketing solutions from LinkedIn Corporation will begin.  The event is designed to help companies explore development of online communities and why a community may or may not be right for your company.  Cost to attend if registered before Monday, March 5 is $20 for members and $30 nonmembers for the seminar only or $40 for members and $55 for nonmembers for the dinner program, or $55 for members and $75 for nonmembers for both programs. Registration is open to the public and can be done via the BMA Milwaukee website.
  • Thursday, March 8 The Oconomowoc Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly Business over Breakfast meeting at Olympia Resort from 7 to 9 a.m. The event is open to both businesses and the general public. The topic of the breakfast is “Bridging the Skills Gap: What Role Do Education Systems Play?” The panel of experts to address the issue will include the following school district superintendents: Craig Jefson, Arrowhead Union High School District; Patricia Deklotz, Kettle Moraine School District; Patricia Neudecke r, Oconomowoc Area School District; JoAnn Sternke, Pewaukee School District; Todd Gray, School District of Waukesha; and Mike Shiels, dean of Industrial & Engineering Technologies Division at Waukesha County Technical College.
    The panel discussion will be moderated by Paul Decker, who is a director at Maverick Innovations Lab, a Waukesha County Board Supervisor and a WCTC instructor. The widening skills gap in the manufacturing arena has reached a critical level and is having an impact on their global competitiveness. For more information, visit www.oconomowoc.org.
  • Saturday, March 10 The Hospitality and Culinary Club at the Waukesha County Technical College will host Fashion Through the Decades at 11 a.m. in the College’s training restaurant, The Classic Room. The event includes a Goodwill fashion show at 11 a.m., featuring vintage clothing dating to the 1800s, followed by a multi-course menu of foods through the ages served by students in the Hospitality and Culinary Club. The meal begins with a 19th century appetizer and ends with a dessert from the future. The fashion show and luncheon is a fundraiser for students traveling to Italy to participate in a culinary tour; money raised will help defray costs associated with the trip.     Waukesha County Technical College’s Center for Business Performance Solutions (formerly Corporate & Community Training) will hold a complementary Business Performance Breakfast Friday, March 9, from 7:30 – 9:30 a.m. at the Harry V.   • Friday, March 16 Musical group Arpa y Bandolas will take the stage at the Latino Arts Auditorium for an evening concert of llanera music. It will be the Milwaukee-debut for the Chicago-based musicians from Latin America. Ticket prices for evening performances in the Latino Arts Auditorium: General Admission $25, Seniors (60+) $20, Full-Time Students $15, $8 per student in groups of 10 or more.
