Lakeland College
Lakeland College, located in Sheboygan County, will use a $50,000 grant from The Bradley Foundation to continue advancing the economic and financial literacy of K-12 teachers and students throughout Wisconsin.
The grant, awarded to Lakeland College for a second consecutive year, will provide funding for a series of workshops for American history teachers in the state and will also fund classroom tools to assist teachers with lessons on basic economics. The workshops, held at Lakeland College’s Center for Economic Education, include learning outcomes focused on choices, costs, incentives, rules of the economic system and gains from trade.
Wisconsin Technology Council
The Wisconsin Technology Council has activated a new job board, the Wisconsin Innovation Network Career Center. The job board is a free, secure database that enables users to set up an account and submit their resume. Once complete, their information becomes searchable by Technology Council board members and corporate members of the Wisconsin Innovation Network, Wisconsin Angel Network, and the Wisconsin Security Research Consortium. Stapleton University
Stapleton Resources, based in Delafield, is rebranding itself as Stapleton University. The company, which specializes in sales training, was founded in Westport, Conn., 20 years ago and has been operated out of southeastern Wisconsin since 1992 by owner and BizTimes columnist Jerry Stapleton. The rebranding initiative precedes a redesign of the company’s training curriculum that will rethink sales representatives’ approaches to customer interaction.
Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin
Froedtert Health and the Medical College of Wisconsin have rebranded their hospitals, health centers and services as “Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin.” The rebranding effort reflects the continued collaboration between the two organizations. With the rebrand, Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls will be called Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin Community Memorial Hospital campus, St. Joseph’s Hospital in West Bend will be called Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin St. Joseph’s Hospital campus, and Froedtert Hospital will be called Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin Froedtert Hospital campus.
Horizon Home Care & Hospice
Horizon Home Care & Hospice recently opened its renovated hospice in-patient unit at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital’s Ozaukee Campus, located in Mequon. The updated unit, renamed the Lawlis Family Hospice, features larger rooms for individual patients and a more inviting atmosphere for patients and their visitors. New amenities include refrigerators in each room, an outdoor patio and a lounge. The space also incorporates more natural lighting. The renovation, completed by Milwaukee-based C.G. Schmidt Inc., added about 400 square feet to the 14-room unit, increasing the hospice facility to about 13,400 square feet. Renovation and expansion efforts were made possible by a $1 million grant from the Lawlis Family Fund through the Greater Milwaukee Foundation.
