BloodCenter of Wisconsin

BloodCenter of Wisconsin, Wauwatosa, has established a strategic alliance with Aurora, Ill.-based Heartland Blood Centers to enhance patient progress and build on operational efficiencies. Together, the organizations will work to improve the quality of their transfusion medicine services to hospitals, cut health care costs and better address patient needs. The organizations have collaborated in the past to control costs and work with new technology.

Brighter12

Brighter12, a startup company based in Milwaukee, has launched its website, www.brighter12.com, to support recovering addicts participating in the 12-step program through interactive online tools. The web app is designed to help people struggling with a range of addictions from drugs and alcohol to overeating and gambling. While Brighter12 is not officially affiliated with any of the 12-step programs, it offers participants supplements such as online journaling and an online question and answer workbook to encourage them in their recovery process. The application costs $10 per month. The startup company is located at the Hudson Business Lounge, 310 E. Buffalo St. in Milwaukee.

S.C. Johnson

Racine-based S.C. Johnson & Son Inc. has been selected as one of several Wisconsin companies and organizations to be awarded by the energy-focused nonprofit RENEW Wisconsin for its renewable energy initiatives in 2012. The award highlights S.C. Johnson’s two wind utility-scale turbines generating electricity for its Waxdale production facility. RENEW Wisconsin will recognize S.C. Johnson and other award winners at its Energy Policy Summit “Powering Positive Action” at the University of Wisconsin’s Pyle Center in Madison on Jan. 11.

Res Manufacturing Company

Res Manufacturing Company, located in Milwaukee, has received the Excellent Quality Performance Award from California-based Tesla Motors. The award recognizes the company’s contribution of high-quality metal stamping products to the Tesla Model S, an electric sedan. Res Manufacturing has also been acknowledged with the 2012 Top Performer of the Year Award and Top Quality Award from Hi-Lex America Inc. in Battle Creek, Mich. The 2012 Top Performer of the Year Award highlights the company’s top supplier performance in terms of quality, delivery and cost while the Top Quality Award gives credit to the company’s overall delivered part quality and total quality in all business negotiations.

The Center for Teaching Entrepreneurship

The Center for Teaching Entrepreneurship presented Milwaukee attorney Michael Hupy with an honorary service award at its 21st annual Harvest of Hope Dinner held at Marquette University in December. The award acknowledged Hupy’s 17 years of service on the center’s board of directors, his leadership efforts as board president and his community engagement. During the program, which recognized the center’s participants, Hupy announced his retirement from the board. The nonprofit center serves more than 1,000 kids each year with programs geared toward strengthening their business and life skills.
