Bentley to close distribution center, lay off 97

Organizations:

Milwaukee packaging manufacturer and exporter Bentley World-Packaging, Ltd. will close its parts distribution center at 5211 S. 3rd St. in Milwaukee and lay off 97 workers on March 31.

In a WARN notice filed with the state Department of Workforce Development, Bentley attributed the closure to an unsuccessful bid to operate the warehouse and provide packaging services for one of its major customers.

Miami-based supply chain management company Ryder won the contract and will take on existing operations there. The company plans to hire many of Bentley’s parts distribution center employees, and is holding a job fair for current employees this month.
