As it seeks to fill hundreds of positions, Summerfest producer increases seasonal workers’ pay

Organizations:

Summerfest producer Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. is increasing its wages for most seasonal workers beginning this week.

The organization said the $2 to $3.50 hourly bump in pay means employees can earn between $14 and $23 per hour.

The organization needs about 2,000 workers for its festival season, which runs July through October. MWF said Monday it needs to fill “a few hundred” positions.

MWF said the move is being made to attract and retain “the best in the event business” for its upcoming concerts, events and the nine days of Summerfest. The wage increase applies to most current and new employees, except for those who receive gratuities.

MWF is hiring for all departments but needs more employees particularly in admissions, beverage operations, facilities and ground operations, and security. A full listing of job postings is available here.

Summerfest runs from Sept. 2-4, 9-11 and 16-18, but Henry Maier Festival Park will also host several shows outside of those nine days, including the Hella Mega Tour on Sept. 1, Jonas Brothers on Sept. 8 and Dave Matthews Band on Sept. 15.

All employees, vendors and attendees must show a COVID-19 vaccination card, or proof of negative COVID-19 test, within 72 hours. MWF said it will provide access to testing for all employees who require a test.
