Artisan nominated for Morningstar awards

Milwaukee-based Artisan Partners has garnered two nominations for Morningstar Inc.’s 2013 U.S. Fund Manager of the Year awards, which recognize the top fund managers in the industry.

Daniel O’Keefe and David Samra, managers of the Artisan International Value (ARTKX) and Artisan Global Value (ARTGX) funds, and Mark Yockey and his team, who manage Artisan International (ARTIX) were among those nominated in the International-Stock Fund Manager of the Year category.

The other nominees in the category are: Sarah Ketterer, Harry Hartford and team, Causeway International Value (CIVVX); Team, Dodge & Cox International Stock (DODFX); and David Herro and Rob Taylor, Oakmark International (OAKIX).

O’Keefe and Samra won the International-Stock Fund Manager award in 2008 and was again nominated in 2011 and 2012. Yockey received the honor in 1998 and was again nominated in 2012.

Morningstar is a premier independent investment research company based in Chicago. Consideration for the award is given to managers whose funds have posted impressive returns for the year and have demonstrated an outstanding long-term risk-adjusted performance while putting shareholders’ interests first.

“Recognition from Morningstar for the Manager of the Year award is a great honor,” said Eric Colson, chief executive officer of Artisan. “It reinforces the value of our investment culture, our talent-focused business model and the quality of our autonomous teams. For our Global Equity and Global Value teams, it is a testament to the investment franchises they have each built. The repeat recognition of both teams proves that when a time tested process is executed with discipline over time it lays the foundation for repeatable results.”
