AIDS Walk Wisconsin & 5K Run raises more than $377,000

Organizations:

The 27th annual AIDS Walk Wisconsin & 5K Run held on Milwaukee’s Lakefront Saturday, raised more than $377,000, the organization announced Monday.

The event, which raises money for HIV prevention and treatment, is organized each year by the AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin. This year, Broadway, TV and film actor Taye Diggs served as the walk’s honorary chair.

“I have believed this from a young age – people – all people – can help fight this disease,” Diggs said while addressing participants on Saturday. “Not only do you all prove this today but I think you folks in Wisconsin are giving to me and others around the country hope for a more successful fight against AIDS and that is the kind of hope that triggers inspiration for the rest of the country to aim as high as you do.”

The event has raised more than $12.6 million over the past 27 years and more than 126,000 people have participated in the annual run and walk.
