Only 877 people in Wisconsin were able to sign up on the new health insurance marketplace in the first month of open enrollment, the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services said.
HHS released its November Enrollment Report this afternoon, which says a total of 106,185 people nationwide selected an ACA marketplace plan between Oct. 1 and Nov. 2. This includes those who have paid a premium and those who have not yet paid a premium.
Of the 106,185 nationwide, 26,794 have been in a federally-facilitated marketplace, and 79,391 have been through state-based marketplaces.
In Wisconsin, which has a federally-facilitated marketplace, a total of 19,098 applications have been completed.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) estimated that around 700,000 Wisconsin residents are expected to sign up for coverage through the new federally-run marketplace, including more than 168,000 in Milwaukee County.
