Zipcar expands Milwaukee fleet

Zipcar today announced the addition of 29 more Zipcars throughout the Milwaukee area.

Zipcar first placed vehicles at local universities in 2007 and in downtown Milwaukee in May 2013, and has seen success in member feedback and growth of the program.

Zipcar will be placing additional vehicles in a variety of neighborhoods such as East Town, The Historic Third Ward, Schlitz Park and Milwaukee Intermodal Station beginning on Wednesday, Aug. 28,  bringing the total number of Zipcars in Milwaukee to 40.

Zipcar will offer a wide range of vehicles in its fleet.

The expansion was made possible due to the support of the city of Milwaukee and the Office of Environmental Sustainability, Department of City Development and Department of Public Works. Milwaukeeans can join Zipcar for a $60 annual fee and a one-time $25 application fee, with rates on Zipcar vehicles starting as low as $8.50 per hour and $69 per day. Gas, insurance and up to 180 miles of driving per day are included in Zipcar rates, and cars can be reserved for as little as an hour or for multiple days.

Zipcars in Milwaukee will be equipped with night parking permits so that members do not have to deal with getting a permit and will be allowed to park on the street overnight at no additional cost. Milwaukee-area residents can join Zipcar at
