Commuting times in southeastern Wisconsin are significantly lower than in the Chicago area. But many key locations in southeastern Wisconsin are also within a reasonably short drive of important destinations in the Chicago area. The Chicago area has the third-longest average travel time to work in the nation at 33.3 minutes, while the Milwaukee area’s average travel to work time is 22 minutes, according to U.S. Census data compiled by IndexMundi.
