Citing his record of supporting law enforcement and strengthening public safety, The Wisconsin Professional Police Association – Wisconsin’s largest police organization – officially endorsed Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett for governor this week at WPPA headquarters in Madison.
"Tom Barrett has consistently demonstrated his support for law enforcement, and owns a real record of success in reducing crime and strengthening public safety,” said WPPA president and Janesville police officer Dennis LeCaptain. “He has worked to ensure that Wisconsin’s police officers have the tools necessary to do their jobs, and Tom recognizes that creating jobs and protecting education depend on communities that are safe."
“I am proud to have the endorsement of the men and women of law enforcement from every corner of Wisconsin, and as governor I will make sure our police officers have the resources and tools they need to keep our state safe,” Barrett said as he accepted the endorsement while surrounded by law enforcement officers from across the state.. Violent crime in Milwaukee has dropped 20 percent over the past two years, and total homicides remain at the lowest levels in nearly 25 years.
