Wisconsin Philharmonic Orchestra names new executive director

The Wisconsin Philharmonic Orchestra, formerly the Waukesha Symphony Orchestra, has appointed Michael Flanigan executive director, according to announcement the organization made on Monday.

 

Flanigan, whose career has included a variety of positions in the for-profit and nonprofit sectors, comes to the orchestra from Carroll University, where he served as an adjunct professor of entrepreneurial studies, marketing and corporate finance.

He previously worked in financial services and for a number of telecommunication companies, including serving as president and general manager of Cellular One of Eastern Wisconsin (now U.S. Cellular).

Flanigan has also been involved in a range of civic, charitable and educational organizations, including United Way in Waukesha County and Milwaukee County and the Harvard Business School Club of Wisconsin.

The Washington, D.C. native is a retired colonel in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve and earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School.
