WEDC adds new CFO

Organizations:

The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation has named Stephanie Walker chief financial officer.

Walker, who is unrelated to Gov. Scott Walker, is the finance director for the Village of Shorewood. She prepares financial statements and budget documents for Shorewood, and has earned the Government Finance Officers Association Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.

She also has experience in financial management for the Village of Brown Deer and the City of Berwyn, Ill. and as an audit manager for Baker Tilly Virchow Krause LLP.

Walker holds a bachelor’s in business administration from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and is studying for a master’s in public administration at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

“We’re very excited for Stephanie to join the WEDC team,” said Reed Hall, WEDC secretary and CEO. “She brings a wealth of experience in public sector financial management and private sector auditing. That’s the perfect combination of talent for a public-private entity such as WEDC and exactly what we need to continue the tremendous progress we’ve made in reforming WEDC’s internal systems and controls.”

The WEDC came under fire recently when the last CFO left the WEDC after one day, when his previous company offered him a promotion.
