Walker and Neumann launch dueling commercials

Learn more about:

In his debut television commercial of the campaign, GOP guv hopeful Scott Walker touts his fiscal conservative credentials by touting his decision to forgo part of his salary as Milwaukee Co. exec.
The narrator says Walker learned when he was elected that the position paid more than the governor.
"I was like, wow. That’s a lot of money," Walker, seated in his living room, says to the camera.
The narrator then says that Walker gave back $370,000 of his salary to the county over the next eight years.
The spot began airing Thursday and will run through the middle of next week in every TV market in the state, excluding Milwaukee.
Walker campaign manager Keith Gilkes said the decision to go up now had nothing to do with the spots GOP rival Mark Neumann began running last month.
"I think Neumann had to go up in response to our campaign," Gilkes said, citing Walker’s lead in early polls and his fundraising dominance over Neumann.
Neumann said Walker’s move to go on the air shows the Republican frontrunner "is very nervous" about his challenge.
"It is a full-fledged statement from Scott Walker that the momentum in the campaign has really shifted to us," Neumann said.
Neumann released his third ad of the campaign this week. In it, he urges viewers to help him "start a revolution."
