Wal-Mart pays $5 million to buy former Sheboygan Menards store

An affiliate of Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart Stores Inc. recently purchased the former Menards store building in the Town of Sheboygan for $5 million, according to state records.

Wal-Mart plans to convert the building, located southeast of I-43 and County Highway J, into a 137,000-square-foot Sam’s Club store.

The Menards store closed in 2008 when it was replaced by a new Menards store northwest of I-43 and Highway 42 in the Town of Sheboygan.
