Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation donates $2.2 million to Aurora

In recognition of the organization’s 45th anniversary year, the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation Board has announced that it will donate $2.2 million to Aurora Health Care to support cancer care research. The donation, which will be given to Aurora at the foundation’s annual meeting on May 29, is the largest annual gift in the foundation’s history.

“This gift is not just a result of the hard-working board, volunteers, community partners and advocates, it is also a reflection of the investment the foundation is making in the major advancements happening in cancer care and research at Aurora Health Care across the state,” said Erin Hareng, executive director of the foundation.

“Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation is a committed donor to Aurora Cancer Care – a relationship that extends for more than 25 years. Through this generosity, Aurora Cancer Care continues to provide the most comprehensive and personalized cancer treatment options for all of our patients in eastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois,” said Dr. James Weese, vice president of Aurora Cancer Care.

Through its partnership with Aurora Health Care, the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation has contributed more than $18 million to cancer care and research across Wisconsin.

Details of the gift will be announced at the foundation’s annual meeting on Friday, May 29 from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., at Blue Mound Country Club in Wauwatosa. Guests will also hear about other projects the foundation is supporting throughout 2015.
