Velvac acquires assets of Washington firm

New Berlin-based Velvac Inc. has acquired the operations and a major portion of the intellectual property of Bellingham, Wash.-based Qualnetics Corp.

Qualnetics had been a technology partner with Velvac driving the development of its new “Hyperion Guardian” Road-iQ system. The Road-iQ system integrates up to seven cameras with vehicle data connectivity and Wi-Fi/4G cellular communications to display, record and communicate important vehicle safety information via an iPad tablet computer. Fleet vehicles, buses and RVs equipped with Road-iQ offer drivers and fleet managers complete access to not only the driving data, but video, as well, providing greater security and safety.

Velvac is a leading manufacturer and supplier of vision systems and component parts to the truck, bus, recreational and specialty vehicle industries.

Velvac continues to operate a manufacturing facility in Reynosa, Mexico.

The management team and employees of Qualnetics have been offered opportunities to be employed at Road-iQ and will continue to operate out of the Bellingham office.
