Madison-based UW Credit Union plans to build a second branch in Wauwatosa, at 6510 W. State St.

The credit union plans to break ground and begin preparing the site for construction by the end of the month and open the branch by early 2016. It will be a full-service branch with drive-up service and its ATMs will not include surcharges.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming new Milwaukee-area residents to the credit union,” said Jason Feist, vice president of member services. “Our new location will also make it more convenient for the 32,500 members and the University of Wisconsin alumni living in the area to access our services.”

UW Credit Union, which offers consumer financial services including checking accounts, consumer loans and mortgage lending products, currently has five metro Milwaukee branches, one of which opened in May 2010 at 2365 N. Mayfair Road in Wauwatosa. There are 22 branches  statewide.

“In 2013, more than 13,000 new members joined the credit union,” said Paul Kundert, president and CEO. “This growth, along with our strong balance sheet, enables us to expand our locations and address member feedback for additional Milwaukee-area locations.”
