United Way of Greater Milwaukee has announced its 2014-15 board of directors.
New board members, who will serve three-year terms, are: Kerry Barlow, business banking manager, Wells Fargo Business Banking; Linda Benfield, managing partner, Milwaukee office, Foley & Lardner LLP; Dennis Krakau, executive vice president, Commercial Banking, Associated Bank; Charles Matthews, senior vice president, Wholesale Energy & Fuels, We Energies; and John Miller, president and chief executive officer, Miller-St. Nazianz, Inc.
In addition, existing board members nominated for another three-year term are: Bevan Baker, FACHE, commissioner of health, City of Milwaukee Health Department; David Gay, partner, Assurance Services, EY; Ellen Gilligan, president & CEO, Greater Milwaukee Foundation; Paul Jones, executive chairman, A. O. Smith Corp.; Hugh McGarry, senior vice president, Audience & Consumer Marketing, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Inc.; Michael Porcaro, director of operations, Northern Plains District, UPS; Nicole Renouard, attorney, Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C.; Lynn Sprangers, vice president, Community Impact, Mount Mary University; Mary Ellen Stanek, managing director, Robert W. Baird & Co. Incorporated; Anne Zizzo, president & CEO, Zizzo Group Marketing + PR + New Media; and Gregory Thornton Ed.D., superintendent of schools, Milwaukee Public Schools.
Thornton has not resigned from his position with United Way, a representative said, though he will be leaving his post in Milwaukee to become CEO of Baltimore City Public Schools.
Those elected to one-year terms are Sandra Botcher, vice president, Disability Income, Northwestern Mutual; Jane Durment, chief information officer emeritus, The Marcus Corp.; Bryan House, partner, Foley & Lardner; David Lubar, president & CEO, Lubar & Co.; James Popp, president Wisconsin & Minnesota, Chase; and Dr. Nick Turkal, president & CEO, Aurora Health Care.
“We’ve recruited some outstanding candidates this year,” said Mary Lou Young, president and CEO, United Way of Greater Milwaukee. “Our 2014 Board of Directors is committed to ensuring that the money raised by United Way is only invested in local programs that produce significant and measurable results in the areas of Education, Income and Health.”
United Way also announced its 2014 Community Campaign co-chairs: Paul Purcell, chairman and CEO, Robert W. Baird & Co. Inc., Thelma Sias, vice president, local affairs, We Energies and Scott Wrobbel, managing partner, Deloitte LLP.
