United Way announces new board of directors

The United Way of Greater Milwaukee has announced its new board of directors to serve during 2011-2012. Each will serve a three year term.
“United Way of Greater Milwaukee recruits the people and organizations that have the passion, expertise and resources to get things done,” said Mary Lou Young, president and CEO, United Way of Greater Milwaukee. “This slate of board members will continue to lead United Way’s strategic work in creating opportunities for people to build a good quality of life through education, income and health.”
The new board members include Bevan Baker, city of Milwaukee Health Department commissioner of health; Christy Garcia-Thomas, president of United Performing Arts Fund; Ellen Gilligan, president and chief executive officer of Greater Milwaukee Foundation; Paul Jones, chairman and chief executive officer of A.O. Smith Corporation; Hugh McGarry, senior vice president of Milwaukee Journal Sentinel; Michael Porcaro, director of operations of northern plains district for UPS; Nicole Renouard, contract attorney at Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C.; Mary Ellen Stanek, managing director at Robert W. Baird & Co., Inc.; Dr. Gregory Thornton, superintendent of Schools for Milwaukee Public Schools; Gordon Weber, executive vice president commercial banking at Associated Banc-Corp.; and Anne Zizzo, president and chief executive officer of Zizzo Group Marketing. Stephanie Chedid, president and chief executive officer of Cleary Gull Advisors, Inc., was elected to serve a one-year term and Thomas Cardella, president and CEO of Tenth & Blake Beer Company, MillerCoors; James Popp, president of Wisconsin and Minnesota for Chase; and Kristine Rappé, senior vice president and CAO for We Energies will act as co-chairs for the United Way of Greater Milwaukee’s 2011 Community Campaign.
Edward Zore, retired chairman and CEO, Northwestern Mutual, was also re-elected to serve as United Way of Greater Milwaukee’s board chair.
