Supervalu picks new Pleasant Prairie site for Midwest regional office

Supervalu Inc. has decided to move its Midwest regional office to a site formerly occupied by Hospira at 8401 102nd St. in Pleasant Prairie.

The new site is approximately one mile from its current office location, which the company recently sold to Meijer Distribution Inc.

Supervalu will occupy about 43,000 square feet in the new center. The decision preserves about 200 jobs in the village.

Since the sale of the current site, the Kenosha Area Business Alliance (KABA) has been working with Supervalu to retain and relocate their regional office positions in the area.

The company anticipates that office staff will move to the new site in July, once updates to the building have been completed.

William Chew, regional president for Supervalu, said, “We are very pleased to announce to our associates and the community that our regional office will remain in Pleasant Prairie. Our associates are important to our continued success, and we look forward to moving into our new office space later this summer.”

Pleasant Prairie Village President John Steinbrink said, “Supervalu has been a great community partner for the entire Kenosha area. We’re excited that they’ll retain their regional office jobs here, and we are completely impressed with their commitment to the community.”

Todd Battle, president of KABA, said, “Supervalu has had a substantial and positive presence in Kenosha County for more than 20 years. The news that they will maintain their Midwest region headquarters in Pleasant Prairie is very welcome and another indication that Kenosha County continues to be a great location for business operations.”

This news comes on the heels of other recent economic development announcements, including: EMCO Chemical Distributors’ decision to relocate its corporate headquarters from North Chicago, Ill., to Pleasant Prairie; Good Foods Group’s announcement that it will relocate its corporate headquarters and establish production operations in Pleasant Prairie; and Ta Chen International’s signing of a long-term lease to occupy a industrial facility in LakeView Corporate Park.
