Sporting goods retailer Sports Authority Inc. will close all of its remaining stores, including its four Milwaukee area locations.

Those stores, located in Brookfield, Delafield, Greenfield and at Bayshore Town Center in Glendale, were originally not on the list of stores the Englewood, Colorado-based retailer planned to close when it filed for bankruptcy in March.

The sporting goods retailer has filed a new document in bankruptcy court in Delaware stating it will be closing down the rest of its stores, according to CNN Money.

Russ Sagmoen, a retail broker with Colliers International|Wisconsin, said it shouldn’t be hard to fill the vacant Milwaukee-area stores.

“The mid-box market is pretty strong right now, and the stores are in decent trade areas,” Sagmoen said. “The first call the owners will make will be to Dick’s Sporting Goods, I’m sure, but after that, I don’t think finding tenants will be too much of a challenge.”

Another commercial real estate source said this could be an opportunity for areas like Bayshore Town Center. The mall is already in talks with Nordstrom Rack and Total Wine & More for the former Sears space. The loss of Sports Authority could make way for another small anchor tenant, he said.
