Silverspot Cinema to open at The Corners of Brookfield in June

Theater features nine auditoriums, in-theater dining, bar and lounge

Silverspot Cinema will officially open its first Wisconsin location at The Corners of Brookfield in mid-June, the Miami-based theater operator announced today.

The 41,000-square-foot boutique theater is located on the eastern side of The Corners, a 750,000-square-foot town center bounded by West Bluemound Road, North Barker Road and I-94 in the Town of Brookfield. The theater features nine auditoriums across two stories, in-theater dining, and a bar and lounge on its main level. The Silverspot location was first announced back in 2017.

Auditoriums will feature plush seats that fully recline, tables for in-theater dining and a call button for in-theater service. They will be equipped with Barco laser projection and Dolby surround sound systems, the company said.

Ahead of its opening, the theater said it is hiring for all positions, including concierges, ushers and bartenders, among others. It plans to announce more details about the opening in the coming weeks, according to a news release.

Silverspot offers a variety of movie and other cinematic selections. Beyond the usual Hollywood productions, it shows independent films, live showings of operas, concerts and theater, genre-specific film series and special in-house cultural events.

The theater will serve an American fare menu developed by New York-based Craveable Hospitality Group. Silverspot will also debut its new S Bar cocktail lounge at its Brookfield location, which will offer indoor seating for more than 70 people, as well as additional outdoor patio seating in the warmer months.

“We pride ourselves on catering to the true film, food and fun lover, and we look forward to bringing our exceptional entertainment, in-theater dining and relaxed luxury experience to the Town of Brookfield and greater Milwaukee area,” Gonzalo Ulivi, managing partner of Silverspot Cinema, said in the release.

Stephen Goglia, president and chief executive officer of Craveable, added the theater’s menu will include items such as salads, shrimp lettuce wraps, tuna tartare, flatbreads, sandwiches and filet mignon.

“Silverspot’s unique entertainment offerings, high-quality dining and top-notch customer service are the perfect fit for our town center and will help to further the excellent experience we offer visitors,” said Robert Gould, vice president of U.S. Operations for United Kingdom-based IM Properties, the developer of The Corners.

The town center, which opened in April 2017, is comprised of 400,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, 244 luxury apartments and parking for more than 1,700 cars. The $200 million development was first unveiled by the Marcus Corp. in 2011.

In a previous interview, Gould said this particular area of The Corners is fast becoming its entertainment corridor. Other tenants located near where Silverspot is set to open include an Arhaus furniture store, Café Hollander restaurant, the Lake Country Social restaurant, set to open this summer, and an Improv comedy venue, which is expected to open in early 2020.

Other retailers and restaurants located at The Corners include Von Maur, Grimaldi’s Pizzeria, Goddess and the Baker, Kendra Scott and L.L. Bean.

The naming of Silverspot as the operator of The Corners’ theater development led to a lawsuit by Milwaukee-based The Marcus Corp., which has a minority stake in the project. The company said its partners, majority owners IM Properties and Bradford Real Estate, of Chicago, did not have written consent from Marcus before deciding to move forward with the construction of the theater. Waukesha County Judge Michael Bohren dismissed parts of that lawsuit in late December, but one of the counts is scheduled for a March 2020 jury trial.
