Opus Development Corp. announced today that it will break ground this month on a 47,000-square-foot addition to the Shoppes at Fox River development along Sunset Drive on the southwest side of Waukesha.
Stores in the addition will include a 24,000-square-foot T.J. Maxx store, a 10,000-square-foot Ulta Salon and Cosmetics store, a 7,500-square-foot Charming Charlie’s store and a 5,000-square-foot Rue 21 store.
BizTimes Milwaukee first reported in January about the tenants coming to the project. Today’s announcement made the identity of those tenants official.
The addition, the first development in phase II of the Shoppes at Fox River, will be built on 6 acres at the northeast corner of the site, adjacent to the Pick ‘n Save store.
The 273,000-square-foot first phase for the Shoppes at Fox River was built in 2009 at the former Fleming Cos. distribution center site. The shopping center is 97 percent occupied and tenants include Target, Pick ‘n Save, Petco, Buffalo Wild Wings, Noodles & Company, CVS Pharmacy, Chili’s Bar & Grill, Famous Footwear and Maurice’s.
“The success of the first phase of this development has been remarkable,” said John Meyers, vice president of real estate development at Opus. “The commitment from these four high-quality retailers to commence the Phase II development validates the success of the initial phase of the project, and we anticipate that the second phase of development will see similar success.”
