Second phase of Mayfair Collection to include Whole Foods, hotel, restaurants

A 45,500-square-foot Whole Foods store, a 144-room hotel and six restaurants are planned in the second phase of Chicago-based HSA Commercial Real Estate’s Mayfair Collection development in Wauwatosa.

The Mayfair Collection is a mixed-use project that is being developed northeast of U.S. Highway 45 and Burleigh Street. The first phase of the project will have 270,000 square feet of retail space and will include Nordstrom Rack, Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5th, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Old Navy and Ulta Beauty stores.

The first phase of the project will be complete in April. Construction of the second phase will begin this spring and be complete in 2015.

The plans for the second phase of the development were submitted to the city of Wauwatosa on Thursday and will be reviewed by the city’s Community Development Committee on Tuesday.

The 17-acre second phase plans include a 45,500-square-foot organic grocer. Site plans submitted to the city indicates that Whole Foods will occupy that space. It would be the second Whole Foods store in the metro Milwaukee area. The only other location is on the East Side of Milwaukee.

BizTimes Milwaukee reported in September that HSA was working with Whole Foods to bring the grocer to the Mayfair Collection project.

The Mayfair Collection’s second phase plans also include a 5-story, 144-room “extended stay, executive hotel,” a 250-space parking structure, six restaurants, a bank, additional retail space and a site reserved for a possible city fire station.

The plans include a 4.73-acre center restaurant area with four restaurants and a plaza. The restaurants will be encouraged to provide outdoor seating.
