Learn more about:

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Wisconsin president Larry Schreiber has been named 2012 Chair for the Wisconsin Chapter of CEOs Against Cancer, the American Cancer Society announced today.

CEOs Against Cancer is a nationwide American Cancer Society volunteer forum of chief executive officers (CEOs). The Wisconsin Chapter is comprised of 22 Wisconsin-based companies and organizations encompassing more than 20,000 employees. The group works to improve the health of employees, organizations and surrounding communities by raising corporate executives’ awareness about how to stay well, get well, find cures and fight back against cancer.
Schreiber and his CEOs Against Cancer-Wisconsin Chapter colleagues will collaborate on a variety of health-focused issues facing working professionals from diverse industries across the state. As chair, Schreiber will direct the chapter, gathering corporate executives’ unique insights to address cancer’s impact on the workforce, as well as support the American Cancer Society’s work to help companies improve employee health, boost workplace productivity, and reduce health care costs.
“We’re excited to have Larry Schreiber leading our CEOs Against Cancer team in Wisconsin,” said American Cancer Society Midwest Division chief executive officer Jari Johnston-Allen. “Cancer affects almost everyone in some way which, in turn, has a major impact on the workforce. Mr. Schreiber’s active involvement will be instrumental as we focus on the chief executive’s role in employee health and wellness to help us create a healthier workforce and a world with less cancer.”
“I am proud to be a part of CEOs Against Cancer because I believe that corporate leaders have an important role to play in promoting health and fighting cancer,” Schreiber said. “Everyone spends a big chunk of their day at work, which means the workplace is a huge area of opportunity.  Getting more CEOs involved in supporting healthy habits – such as physical activity, healthy eating and preventative care – is an exciting way we can improve people’s lives and take on cancer. It is a true honor to lead a group of CEOs who are championing these efforts at their companies.”
