SC Johnson acquires infection control business

Steris Corp. division to complement Deb Group line

Racine-based SC Johnson has acquired the Applied Infection Control division of Mentor, Ohio-based Steris Corp. for an undisclosed price.

Steris distributes medical devices aimed at infection prevention, contamination control, surgical and critical care technologies. Among its brands are Alcare, Cal Stat, Soft ‘N Sure and Lotion Soft.

SC Johnson will add Steris’ products to its Deb Group professional skin care division, which it acquired in 2015. The Deb Care products are focused on away-from-home skincare. The division’s expanded skin care and hand hygiene offerings will be marketed to U.S. hospitals.

“AIC’s many respected products are an excellent fit for the Deb Group portfolio and will complement our trusted Deb brands,” said Fisk Johnson, chairman and chief executive officer of SC Johnson. “Adding these brands will enable us to significantly expand our offerings to the U.S. market.”

SC Johnson manufactures household cleaning, home storage, air care, pest control and shoe care products. Among its brands are Glade, Off!, Windex, Ziploc and Shout. It has about 13,000 employees worldwide and $10 billion in annual revenue.
