Waukesha-based Tim O’Brien Homes recently announced a partnership with Wisconsin Energy Corp. to build 12 solar electric homes in southeastern Wisconsin by the spring of 2010. The project is part of a multi-year study by Wisconsin Energy Corp. to evaluate homeowners’ lifestyle habits in response to utilizing solar energy. The solar homes will be studied side-by-side with 12 equivalent size regular homes. The solar homes will range in size from 2,000 to 4,000 square feet and will be built in neighborhoods such as Sherman Parc in Jackson, Oak Hill in Milwaukee, Rolling Ridge South in Waukesha and Leona’s Rolling Meadows in Kenosha. Most of the solar homes will be for sale for just under $300,000.

Johnson Bank’s Brookfield office, located at 14000 W. North Ave., recently received LEED certification form the U.S. Green Building Council. The building opened last year. It was developed by Waukesha-based MRED-Cummings Development and designed by Milwaukee-based Eppstein Uhen Architects.
