Prising named CEO of ManpowerGroup

Organizations:

Jonas Prising has been named chief executive officer of Milwaukee-based ManpowerGroup, effective May 1. He replaces Jeffrey Joerres, who will move into the role of executive chairman.

Prising, who currently serves as president and executive vice president for the Americas and Southern Europe, will also become a board member. The Sweden native has lived in nine countries and speaks five languages, which will help him offer a global perspective.

“Jonas has successfully led several of ManpowerGroup’s key businesses over his 15 years with the company. He started as the head our European sales organization and then built our business in Italy, which is now over $1B in revenue, while also leading the successful first global rebranding of our company,” Joerres said. “ManpowerGroup has a long tradition of internally developing our CEOs and I am proud that we have someone of Jonas’ caliber and expertise to lead the company. Jonas’ deep industry knowledge, client first approach and strategic vision will enable us to continue to grow ManpowerGroup and deliver world class results.”

Joerres has led the global staffing firm since 1999 and has been chairman of the board since 2001. Under his leadership, the company grew from $8 billion to more than $20 billion and expanded its presence from 50 to 80 countries.

“The board appreciates Jeff’s leadership in developing executive talent and managing a rigorous succession planning process,” said Ed Zore, lead director of the board. “After careful consideration, the board strongly endorses and is confident that Prising is the right CEO to move the organization forward and we are pleased to see ManpowerGroup continue its legacy of internal succession.”

Joerres will continue to be actively involved in ManpowerGroup, with a focus on clients and external relationships.

“I am honored and proud to continue to build on the strong foundation that Jeff has established. His strategic vision, thought leadership, innovation, business acumen and personal leadership have firmly positioned ManpowerGroup as a global leader in our industry,” Prising said. “Our company and management team is the strongest it has ever been. I am confident that we will continue to deliver innovation and the results our shareholders, clients and candidates expect.”

The company today also promoted Darryl Green to president and chief operating officer. Green had served as president and executive vice president, Asia Pacific Middle East and Northern Europe.

Green is ManpowerGroup’s first-ever COO, and will focus on improving operational performance across the company’s four regions—Americas, Asia Pacific Middle East, Southern Europe and Northern Europe.

“Darryl is a strong commercial business leader who will focus on driving growth with the disciplined execution needed to deliver world class performance,” Joerres said. “Darryl has an exceptional track record of consistently delivering results. This, coupled with his deep knowledge of emerging markets and ability to craft sophisticated client solutions, will greatly enhance ManpowerGroup’s performance and enable us to effectively deliver innovative workforce solutions to our clients.”

Finally, Sriram “Ram” Chandrashekar has been promoted to president and executive vice president, Asia Pacific Middle East, effective immediately. He is currently senior vice president, Operational Excellence and IT and previously served as COO of Asia Pacific Middle East.

“Under Ram’s strong leadership we improved our operational performance in 2013 and delivered more value from our IT assets,” Joerres said. “Ram’s experience as COO, Asia Pacific Middle East, and working around the world to improve our operational performance, will allow him to smoothly transition into the added responsibilities of running the Asia Pacific Middle East Region while continuing to drive momentum in our operational and IT performance globally.”
