Learn more about:

The Pfister Hotel is seeking applicants for its sixth Artist in Residence, who will take over the hotel’s in-house studio space for a year beginning in April 2014.

The Artist-in-Residence Program brings live art to the hotel with both an art studio and gallery open for hotel guests and the general public to tour. The program also gives visitors opportunities to interact directly with the artist onsite as they complete their projects day to day.

Artists are selected for the program based on factors such as their artistic process and personality along with a public vote.

Past artists have specialized in a range of styles from multimedia to fashion to impressionist paintings.

“There’s been a great diversity in styles among our artists over the past five years,” said Paul Ohm, general manager of the Pfister Hotel. “We’re eager to meet our next great resident artist and see what unique talents he or she showcases to our guests.”

The Pfister’s Artist in Residence Program has been noted nationally and internationally with recent highlights in “HOTELS” magazine and in “The Daily Telegraph,” based in the United Kingdom.

Program artists have also received national recognition with 2012-2013 artist Timothy Westbrook appearing on the Lifetime Television show “Project Runway” and a cover feature of work by 2011-2012 artist Shelby Keefe appearing in “PleinAir Magazine.”

Artist in Residence application packages for the next program cycle are due by Monday, Dec. 2. Completed applications should be submitted to Donna Basterash, executive assistant to the general manager, at the front desk of the Pfister Hotel, which is located at 424 E. Wisconsin Ave. in Milwaukee.
