Milwaukee-based Layton State Bank has added Gary Szpara as its new senior vice president of business development. He has more than 25 years experience in the financial services industry.

Nations Roof North LLC, Waukesha, has hired Tom Boritzke as a roofing estimator. Boritzke has more than 30 years of local roofing experience and has served three years as director of the MRCA board of directors.

Three physical therapy professors in Marquette University’s College of Health Sciences have been honored by the American Physical Therapy Association. Lawrence Pan, chair and professor of physical therapy, was elected a Catherine Worthingham Fellow, the professional organization’s highest honor. Tina Stoeckmann, clinical associate professor, won the Dorothy Briggs Memorial Scientific Inquiry Award, and Guy Simoneau, professor, was selected as a recipient of the Lucy Blair Service Award.

Carroll University, Waukesha, has added Joe Baker, as its first full-time athletic director and Becca Saal, as its head women’s volleyball coach and recreation director. Baker was formerly athletic director at UW-La Crosse for the last 12 years. Saal was previously head women’s volleyball coach and exercise science professor at Ripon College.

The Mount Mary College Alumnae Association recently recognized Marita Pietrykowski and Mary Moran Moze as its 2010 Madonna Medal Award recipients. The Madonna Medal Award is bestowed annually to alumnae who excel in professional achievement, service to the community or service to the college.

Health Care

Dr. Arthur Derse, will assume responsibilities as director of the new Medical College of Wisconsin’s Center for Bioethics and Medical Humanities. The new center combines the College’s existing Center for the Study of Bioethics with its Medical Humanities Program. The Center will be part of the College’s Institute for Community, Population and Public Health.

Dr. John Raymond, vice president for academic affairs and provost of the Medical University of South Carolina, has been named president and CEO of The Medical College of Wisconsin. Raymond was selected by the Medical College’s Trustees to succeed T. Michael Bolger, J.D., who will retire on June 30 after serving nearly 20 years as president and CEO.

Lisa Jentsch, has been named director of newborn and fetal care services for Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Wauwatosa. Jentsch, who was selected after a nationwide search, has been with Children’s Hospital since 1986 and currently is executive director of the southeastern Wisconsin region.

Bob Duncan has joined Children’s Hospital and Health System, Wauwatosa, as executive vice president of community services. He has more than 15 years of experience in community relations, business development and public policy with the state of Tennessee and Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare.

Extendicare Health Services, Inc., Milwaukee, has hired Cassie Varhelyi as receptionist in the facilities management department, and Luke Getschow as an insurance billing analyst in the accounts receivable department.

Insurance

United Heartland, New Berlin, has appointed Lisa Wills as vice president of strategic planning and corporate relations, she has served as vice president of administration for the past six years. Janine Tracy has also been appointed United Heartland’s new director of human resources and Strategy.

The law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP, Milwaukee, has added Jennifer Rathburn as a partner in the Health Law Group. Rathburn focuses her practice in the representation of health systems, hospitals, medical clinics, physicians, nursing homes, and other health care providers on matters of privacy and security of health information and occupational health.

Management Services

C.H. Coakley & Co. Inc., Milwaukee, has promoted Elizabeth Vera to account manager of its archives division. Vera has served C.H. Coakley as a supervisor since 2009.

Manufacturing

ZBB Energy Corp., Menomonee Falls, has added Daniel Nordloh as vice president of business development and marketing. Nordloh has comprehensive leadership experience in strengthening technology and manufacturing companies, and extensive success in driving successful growth planning and execution initiatives within organizations poised for rapid growth.

Nonprofit

Karen Von Rueden has been named vice president of development for the Zoological Society of Milwaukee. She previously served as senior director of advancement at Cardinal Stritch University and as development director at Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens.

The Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts in Brookfield, has added Gail Valenti, individual gifts manager, and Vicki Schroeder, corporate and foundations manager, to its full time staff.

Professional Athletics

The Milwaukee Brewers have hired Kristin Loeser as director of suite services. Loeser joins the Brewers after working as a payroll sales consultant for Paychex in Brookfield.

Technology

Aaron Martin has been named associate partner for Corporate Technology Solutions, West Allis. Prior to this promotion, Martin had been serving as a senior consultant with the company he has over seven years of experience in IT.
