Design

Thomasville Home Furnishings, Brookfield, employees Angela Erato and Mary Lewandowski recently received the 2008 Milwaukee Home and Fine Living residential design awards. Erato won the Gold Award in the Best Interior Design – New Construction category for her interior design of the Tan residence in Brookfield, and Lewandowski selected as the Silver Award winner in the Best Interior Design- Remodel category for her interior design of the addition to the Forrer residence in Mequon.

Education

Milwaukee Area Technical College Foundation Inc. recently elected Maria Avila, director of information systems at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company; and

Jeffrey Nelson, director of research, MBO Cleary Advisors Inc., to three-year terms on its board of directors.

Government Organizations

The Milwaukee Public Library (MPL) and Wisconsin Regional Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (WRLBPH) recently announced that Meredith Wittmann has been named regional librarian. She came to MPL in June 2007 from the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) library. She has also been the outreach librarian for WRLBPH since March 2008.

Health Care

Urogynecologist Dr. Sumana Koduri, assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology at The Medical College of Wisconsin, Wauwatosa, and Medical College nurse practitioner Deborah Kuklinski, recently received the 2007-2008 Novice Literary Excellence Award for previously unpublished authors from the journal Urologic Nursing. Dr. Maria Ocasio-Silva was recently appointed assistant professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Medical College of Wisconsin and to the medical staff of Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Wauwatosa. Ocasio-Silva has been with the Medical College since 2006, and completed a pediatric rehabilitation fellowship earlier this year. Ruta Bajorunaite, has been appointed assistant professor of population health in the division of biostatistics at The Medical College of Wisconsin. Her research interests include survival analysis and competing risks. Prior to her appointment, she was an assistant adjunct professor of population health at the Medical College, and assistant professor of mathematics, statistics and computer science at Marquette University. Dr. Raj Rao, professor of orthopaedic surgery and director of spine surgery at The Medical College of Wisconsin, has been appointed to the board of directors of the North American Spine Society. He was also appointed chairman of the Society’s Advocacy Committee, which assists and educates Congress and other policymakers in Washington D.C. on sound health care policy that will allow spine specialists to take better care of their patients. Dr. Joseph Bovi, has been appointed assistant professor of radiation oncology at the Medical College of Wisconsin and to the medical staff of Froedtert Hospital, Wauwatosa. Dr. Bovi has been with the Medical College since 2003, when he began a radiation oncology residency. 

Paula Roberts has joined Children’s Hospital and Health System, Wauwatosa, as director of community relations and advocacy. Roberts most recently served as deputy administrator for Milwaukee County Department of Health and Human Services.

Matt Talbot Recovery Center Inc., Milwaukee, recently appointed Patty Pendowski executive director. She has broad experience in operating residential and outpatient services in the community.

Hospitality & Entertainment

Sleep Inn & Suites, Milwaukee, recently hired Brian Thoe as general manager and Stacey Geil as assistant general manager.

Interior Design

Schroeder Solutions, New Berlin, recently announced the addition of Mike McMillin as corporate relocation consultant. McMillin was one of the original employees who opened the Schroeder office in New Berlin in 1988. He has 21 years of industry experience.

The Wisconsin Association for Justice recently announced that Jefferey Pitman was elected treasurer by the organization’s membership. Pitman is a partner in the Milwaukee-based firm Pitman, Kyle & Sicula. He specializes in representing victims of serious injury and nursing home abuse and neglect.

Real Estate

Shorewest Realtors, Brookfield, recently welcomed sales associates Kim Decker to the Delavan office and Debbie Griffiths to the Racine office. Combined they have more then 8 years of real estate experience.

Technology
