The Milwaukee Ballet has hired Cynthia MacMartin as the director of marketing and public relations, and has promoted Amy Marshall to the position of director of operations. MacMartin is a graduate of the University of Manitoba’s Asper School of Business. In addition to serving as the director of marketing and communications for Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet, MacMartin has also worked as the director of marketing and public relations for the Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation, New York. Prior to arriving at the Milwaukee Ballet, MacMartin served as the public relations director for MPI media Group, Chicago. Marshall is a 1991 graduate of Marquette University’s College of Communications and worked as the director of production for the Florentine Opera before joining the Milwaukee Ballet in 2000 as company manager.
Prom Krog Altstiel, Mequon, has appointed Vita Miranova as graphic artist and Web designer for the firm’s growing interactive and Web department. Miranova received training in graphics and Web design at UDA, Boston; Middlesex College, Bedford, Mass.; and the College of Applied Arts, Riga, Latvia. Miranova was previously employed by Walzak Marketing Communications, Milwaukee, as a graphic artist and web designer.
Michael Best & Friedrich, Milwaukee, announced that Partner Robyn S. Shapiro, has been named chair of the firm’s health care practice area. Shapiro is a nationally recognized authority on bioethics issues and serves as professor of bioethics and director of the Bioethics Center at the Medical College of Wisconsin. A 1977 graduate of Harvard University Law School, Shapiro has been in Michael Best & Friedrich’s health care practice since 1992. Joseph Louis Olson has joined Michael Best & Friedrich as an associate and a member of the Litigation Practice Area. He received a B.A., cum laude, from UW-Stevens Point in 2000 and a J.D., cum laude, from the UW Law School in 2003.
Steve Smith has recently joined Murphy Marketing Research/TRENDTOWN, Milwaukee, as vice president/research director. Smith was formally the director of market research with American Society for Quality (ASQ) and has held previous positions on both the market research consulting and advertising agency side of the business. Smith holds a bachelor of science degree in management from Cardinal Stritch and an MBA from Marquette University. Amy Kendziorski has recently joined Murphy Marketing Research/TRENDTOWN, Milwaukee, as a research analyst. Kendziorski is a recent graduate of UWM, with a bachelor of business administration degree.
Sprecher Bertalot & Co., Milwaukee, has promoted Taylor Smith to creative director – a post Smith will share the seat with partner Emil Bertalot. Smith joined the firm as an associate creative director in 2002. Smith previously worked for Cole, Henderson & Drake in Atlanta.
Ellen Nowak has been named director of the Alexian Brothers Pavilion, Milwaukee. Nowak was hired in June 2003 to develop programs at the Pavilion that would unify the surrounding community. Nowak earned a degree from Marquette University in radio broadcasting, and previously worked as an activities coordinator at a nursing home in Menomonee Falls, was a sports announcer at WFAN in New York, and locally for WGLB, WTMJ and WISN radio, respectively.
Creative Constructors, Menomonee Falls, has hired Andrew Sisler as superintendent and project manager. Sisler obtained his bachelor’s degree with a major in construction management from MSOE in the spring. Previously an intern and assistant project manager at Creative Constructors, Sisler has several years of construction experience.
Chenequa Corp., Menomonee Falls, has announced the four new hires: Steve Johnson as account executive, Francis Morton as account executive and interactive, Tim Andersen as pre-press manager, and Kurt Boos as sales and marketing manager.
Jay Jesberger has joined The Equitable Bank as the new Hales Corners office branch manager. He previously worked for TCF Bank as the branch manager for three years and Commonwealth Credit Union as a financial service representative for seven years. Jesberger graduated from UW-Whitewater in 2000.
Regal Ware Inc. has promoted Jim Dorn to the position of vice president, food service division. Dorn has been employed with Regal Ware since 1964 in a variety of professional sales positions, most recently as director of special markets.
Precision Marketing Partners and The Academy of Financial Services Studies has announced two promotions and one hire. Leslie E. Lynch has been named president of The Academy of Financial Services Studies. Lynch has worked for 15 years as a senior human resources executive. Prior to joining Precision Marketing, Lynch held successive senior level management and corporate business development positions including director of human resources for a mutual fund company. Cory Colvin has been promoted to director of marketing for Precision Marketing Partners. Colvin formerly held the position of senior marketing and sales strategist. Prior to joining Precision Marketing Partners and The Academy of Financial Services Studies in 2002, Colvin held a variety of marketing strategy posts for an investment management organization. John Lepley has joined The Academy of Financial Services Studies as a faculty member of its school of compliance and regulatory studies. Lepley, who is both a practicing attorney and a CFP, joins The Academy with over 20 years experience in financial services marketing and compliance roles. Most recently he served as senior vice president for Principal Financial Group in retail investment product distribution.
La Macchia Group has hired Joseph J. Minorik as director of architectural services. Minorik has more than 15 years of experience in architecture and architecture project management. Prior to joining La Macchia Group, he worked for Architectural Associates, Racine, and Woods Associates Inc. (formerly Woods-Moynihan) Milwaukee.
Irgens Development Partners, Milwaukee, has promoted Duane Nolde to principal and chief financial officer. Nolde has been with Irgens Development Partners for eight years and has more than 14 years of experience in real estate and accounting. Nolde was senior vice president and chief financial officer prior to his promotion.
Mobile Communications Consultants (MC2), Milwaukee, has hired Natalie Catanese as the new director of sales. Catanese previously worked at Hatch Staffing for 10 years.
Raabe Corp., Menomonee Falls, has appointed Michael Conway as sales manager. Prior to joining Raabe, Conway was the director of sales and marketing for American Finishing resources in Chilton. Conway holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from UW-Whitewater.
Tax Airfreight, Milwaukee, announced the addition of Sue Katzfey as its customer service manager. Katzfey, who has more than 20 years of customer service and management experience, most recently handled the operations of the J.C. Penney call center. Her formal education comes from St. Norbert College, where she received a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
Phoenix Care Systems, Milwaukee, has named Steven J. Szydel vice president of finance and chief financial officer. Prior to joining Phoenix, Szydel spent 15 years at various accounting firms. Most recently he worked at Deloitte & Touche as a senior manager. Phoenix Care Systems’ board of directors has also realigned the company’s leadership. Donald Fritz was named chairman of the board and will also assume his former position as president of Phoenix. Len Dziubla assumes the newly created position of chief executive officer and treasurer. David Perhach assumes the newly created position of vice president for program development. The board promoted Timothy Leonard to training manager, Richard Kochman was named director of finance, Lori Janny is the new corporate controller, Dr. Jay O’Grady, medical director, assumes the new position of vice president for clinical services and quality assurance, and Dr. Robert Carpenter was named coordinator of quality assurance and licensing compliance. Carpenter also serves as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA) privacy coordinator.
Julie Metzger has been hired as part of the sales staff at Color Ink, Sussex. Metzger has 15 years of experience in the commercial printing industry within southeastern Wisconsin. Metzger started her printing career with Color Ink and most recently was employed at Burton & Mayer.
Wauwatosa Savings Bank, Wauwatosa, has promoted Tanya Tyacke to the position of training manager for the bank. Wendy Rice has been promoted to IRA department manager. Her previous position was IRA supervisor.
USA Funding, Brookfield, has announced the addition of four new managers. Brian Kirley will be USA’s inside sales manager. Prior to joining USA, Kirley served as an assistant sales manager for the Wisconsin office of ValueCom. He brings three years of extensive outside sales and management experience to USA Funding.
Lori Huntington will oversee account activity within USA Funding’s central Wisconsin sales region. Huntington served as a loan officer for Ideal Financial Services prior to joining USA Funding. Cherie Stein will be the marketing manager for USA Funding. Stein, who has extensive experience in business management and development from running her own company, brings managerial and public relations skills to USA Funding. Deborah Paukner is the new accounting manager for USA Funding. Paukner, a registered CPA, brings more than 11 years of experience as a senior financial analyst for RedPrarie Corp., prior to joining the USA staff.
Ideal Financial Services, Brookfield, announces a new regional manager and four new loan officers. Mark Stein is the new regional manager of Ideal’s six branch offices. Stein, previously a CIO in the public sector, brings 15 years of managerial experience as well as an extensive background in information technology. Chad Schram comes to Ideal from Ameriquest Mortgage Company where he served as an account executive. Robert Brendemuel comes to Ideal from Castle Realty where he served as a real estate agent. Brendemuel will now be a loan officer at Ideal Financial’s Mequon Branch. Julie Oehme will also be working as a loan officer in the Mequon office. Oehme has prior experience as an account manager at Enterprise before joining the Ideal staff. Bill Konkol will be loan officer at Ideal Financial Services of Madison.
World Class Wire and Cable, New Berlin, has promoted Bryan Beasley to national sales manager and hired Joe Lander regional sales manager. Beasley has worked for World Class Wire and Cable since 1994, most recently as Midwest regional sales manager. Beasley has more than11 years of wire and cable experience. Lander brings more than 10 years of wire and cable experience to his management position.
David A. Wholihan has been named territory sales manager for HOST/Racine Industries, Racine. Wholihan joins HOST following an extensive background in sales and sales management as well as experience in the janitorial supply industry working with HOST products. Wholihan has worked with HOST distributors, covering Michigan territories. Now working directly with Racine Industries, his territories will include Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, West Virginia and western Pennsylvania. Wholihan is a graduate of Kennedy Western University where he received his business degree.
Natali Heuss has been promoted to the position of operations director at Senior Residential Care, West Allis. Natali began her employment as a facility director and has shown exceptional leadership capabilities.
Kristyn Phillips has joined CG Schmidt, Milwaukee, as an onsite administrative assistant at St. Joseph’s Community Hospital, West Bend. Phillips attended UW-Stevens Point and continued her studies at the National Shakespeare Conservatory in New York City.
Mueller Communications, Milwaukee, announced that Julie Semancik has joined the team as an account executive. Prior to joining Mueller, Semancik worked as a senior account executive at a Chicago public relations agency. Semancik is a graduate of St. Mary’s College in South Bend, Ind., where she earned a bachelor of arts degree in communications and sociology with a concentration in public relations.
Michael C. Hurt has joined Davis & Kuelthau. Hurt will be a shareholder in the Milwaukee office until the opening of a new Davis & Kuelthau Brookfield office in 2004. Hurt was previously a shareholder at Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek.
Johnson Direct, Brookfield, has hired Leonard Butkus. Butkus’ official title is “Club Pro,” and vice president of marketing. Butkus has more than 20 years of experience in the catalog, design, marketing and communications fields.
Roger Strode has joined Quarles & Brady as a partner in the Health Law Practice Group. Strode earned his bachelor’s degree from Illinois State University and his law degree from Marquette University Law School.
Adam Gross has joined the art department at EPIC of Wisconsin in West Bend. Gorss comes to EPIC with four years experience and knowledge of seven different programming and scripting languages. Before coming to EPIC, Gross worked for SalesOrders.com as an applications developer.

Briscoe most recently was employed by Boelter + Lincoln, Milwaukee, where she served as a media planner/buyer.
