Outpost opens café at Aurora Sinai

Outpost Natural Foods has opened a new Outpost Market Café at Aurora Sinai Medical Center in downtown Milwaukee.

The 225-square-foot Outpost kiosk is located in the main lobby of the hospital near patient registration. It is the first of its kind for the co-op, which has been serving the metro Milwaukee community since 1970.
Outpost’s Market Café offers a variety of signature, made-from-scratch Outpost prepared food items, including bakery, sandwiches, soups, salads and entrees. The kiosk also offers hot coffee and tea, juices, a limited selection of fresh and non-perishable staple grocery items like milk and dairy, eggs, produce, bread, bulk items, convenient center aisle foods and bagged coffee. As with Outpost’s three full-service grocery stores, many of the items will come from Wisconsin growers and producers.
Outpost community relations director Margaret Mittelstadt said the Market Cafe is a natural extension of the strong mission and good will of both organizations.
“Outpost’s vision is to create a healthy, diverse and sustainable community. Having the new Market Café in the lobby of Aurora Sinai Medical Center creates of hub for both organizations to celebrate their commitment to the goodness of wholesome food and friendly service in a welcoming environment,” Mittelstadt said.
Additionally, according to Janine Bamberger, Aurora Sinai nutrition services manager, bringing Outpost to the campus has been very positive for caregivers and visitors.
“We look forward to expanding our relationship. We are thrilled with the healthy connections that it continues to foster between farmers, food, caregivers and the community we serve,” Bamberger said.
