OnCourse Learning sold to CIP Capital

Waukesha-based OnCourse Learning Corp. has been acquired by New York private equity firm CIP capital.

OnCourse provides tools to help companies and professionals navigate regulatory training, certification and compliance requirements.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with CIP Capital,” said Patrick Sheahan, chief executive officer of OnCourse. “Today’s announcement is the next step in our growth as a leading provider of online professional training solutions. Through our partnership with CIP Capital, OnCourse will continue to expand its presence in our core verticals while aggressively entering new markets. CIP Capital’s sound strategic guidance, commitment to growth, and capital investment position OnCourse Learning to expand its best-in-class education and training product offerings to a wider range of professionals and partner organizations.”

OnCourse was previously owned by Cleveland-based private equity firm The Riverside Company. Milwaukee-based Robert W. Baird & Co. Inc. served as the exclusive financial advisor to Riverside in the transaction.

Andrew Snow and Daniel Alfe led the Baird team that completed the transaction. Investors have shown increased interest in professional training companies, particularly in financial services, they said.

“With increased focus on accountability, persistent skill gaps in the U.S. labor force and attractive financial characteristics of the businesses that operate in this sector, investors continue to show a lot of interest in the professional training space. And as the online delivery models surpass traditional classroom delivery models, companies like OnCourse will be at the top of that list,” Snow said.
