Northwestern Mutual to host 10,000 employees for annual meeting

About 10,000 Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. employees will visit Milwaukee starting Saturday for the company’s 135th Annual Meeting of Network Representatives

The Milwaukee-based insurer expects the local economic impact will be about $12.9 million. Hotels will be packed, with the company reserving 13,819 hotel room nights during the meeting, which runs from July 18 to 22.

“We are thrilled to welcome Northwestern Mutual back to Milwaukee once again,” said Paul Upchurch, president and chief executive officer of VISIT Milwaukee. “Northwestern Mutual represents the largest convention of our year and has a tremendous impact on our area’s economy. We look forward to welcoming the thousands of attendees to Milwaukee and creating great experiences for them while they’re here.”

The meeting aims to provide development for the company’s field employees through educational and best practices events, networking, mentorship and teambuilding. Events will be held at the Wisconsin Center, BMO Harris Bradley Center, Hilton Milwaukee City Center, Hyatt Regency Milwaukee, InterContinental Hotel & Resort, Pfister Hotel, Discovery World and the Milwaukee County Zoo.

NML will also celebrate a strong year, with an expected record dividend distribution of $5.5 billion to participating policyowners.

“We place great value on enhancing our relevance with clients, policyowners and potential clients,” said John Schlifske, Northwestern Mutual chairman and chief executive officer. “Many people are facing challenges with financial planning throughout their life stages. We continually evolve to focus on helping people overcome those challenges and meet their long-term financial security goals.”
