DCI Cheese Company donates $50,000 to Action for Healthy Kids
Richfield-based DCI Cheese Company recently donated $50,000 to Action for Healthy Kids in support of the organization’s efforts to improve nutrition in America’s schools. The donation represents a 25 cent contribution for every piece of Black Diamond Cheese purchased from November 1 to December 31, 2011.
“Cheese is packed with vitamins and nutrients making it a great snacking option for kids,” states Katie Jury, DCI’s Marketing Manager. “We’re very excited that our holiday sales directly translated into a nice contribution to Action for Healthy Kids.”
Action for Healthy Kids works with schools and families to fight childhood obesity and undernourishment. Since the organization was founded in 2002 it has partnered with schools nationwide to provide programs and services that improve nutrition in schools and increase opportunities for kids to be active.

AFP Milwaukee honored as a Ten Star Chapter
The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Greater Milwaukee, Chapter has been named a 2011 Ten Star Chapter by AFP International.
Chapters receive the Ten Star Award for performing specific activities designed to increase professionalism within fundraising and public awareness of the importance of philanthropy.
“The Ten Star Award acknowledges that the AFP Greater Milwaukee Chapter is one of the largest and most accomplished AFP chapters in the nation, having served the fundraising profession in Southeastern Wisconsin for nearly four decades,” said Julie Whelan Capell, AFP Greater Milwaukee Chapter president and director of planning and development at the Planning Council for health and Human Services Inc.  “This honor has been earned through the commitment of countless volunteers who have stepped forward to serve our chapter and to advance our profession.  In 2011, we were recognized specifically for our exceptional educational programs, and for establishing several committees to effectively provide services to over 300 members and to the community at large.”
AFP Greater Milwaukee will be recognized as a Ten Star Chapter at the AFP International Conference on Fundraising to be held later this year in Vancouver.
“I want to congratulate the Greater Milwaukee Chapter, which is playing a key role in promoting ethical and effective fundraising and educating the Southeastern Wisconsin public about the importance of philanthropy and wise giving,” said Andrew Watt, chief executive officer of AFP International and president of FInstF. “Our Ten Star Chapters have demonstrated outstanding programming and leadership for the fundraising profession, and I’m pleased to recognize their outstanding efforts. If individuals and organizations in the Greater Milwaukee area have questions about fundraising and philanthropy, they should definitely contact the AFP, Greater Milwaukee Chapter.”
