MIAD elects new board of trustee members
Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design recently added two new members to its board of trustees. Robert Schwartz, general manager of global design and user experience at GE Healthcare and a fellow of the industrial designers society of America and Deanna Tillisch, president of the United Performing Arts Fund have been elected to serve.




United Way funds programs to fight infant mortality
United Way of Greater Milwaukee has awarded $70,000 in grant money from the Helen Bader Foundation to organization’s fighting to reduce infant mortality rates in the area. Programs receiving grants include: Inter-conception Care Home Visiting Pilot Project, the two-year pilot partnership between Aurora Sinai Medical Center and Aurora Family Service has received $35,000. The Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers Infant Safety Project will also receive $35,000 to provide three specific service components to focus on keeping babies safe. The Milwaukee Health Department will receive $10,00 for its Cribs for Kids program and lastly, the Center for Urban Population Health will receive $10,000 to support a new web portal called Community-accessible Research Information on Healthy Births. will centralize greater Milwaukee’s research, programs, interventions, and policies related to birth outcomes. The content of this website will link and inform healthcare organizations, academic institutions, governmental, and community-based organizations that seek to improve birth outcomes in Milwaukee
