UW-Madison named top feeder school for City Year
University –Wisconsin Madison was recently ranked among the top five feeder schools for City Year corps members.
“We’re excited that we have a top feeder, right here in our back yard,” said Jason Holton, executive director of City Year Milwaukee where 11 Badger alums now serve. “We find that Madison graduates come into our program well prepared and ready to make a tangible difference in the lives of students each and every day.”
City Year corps members commit to a year of full-time service keeping students in school and on track.
UW-Madison ranks second overall among City Year’s feeder schools, supplying 27 recent graduates to the ranks of the City Year corps. Only UCLA has more alumni currently service as City Year corps members, with 28. City Year corps members currently serve 110,000 students in 187 schools, located in 21 U.S. cities.
“UW-Madison has been extremely receptive to City Year, consistently supporting our efforts to recruit top notch graduates,” said Kobena-Marcus J. Collins, recruitment director at City Year Milwaukee. “This is evidenced by the nearly 20 percent of all applications for City Year Milwaukee and four of our currently confirmed Corps Members attend UW-Madison. I greatly look forward to upcoming events, such as our scheduled job shadowing program, to be examples of partnerships with other institutions.”
