Musicians to host September 11 commemorative concert
Bel Canto Chorus of Milwaukee and the Milwaukee chamber Orchestra will host United We Stand, a free commemorative concert on Sunday, September 11, at 3 p.m. in Cathedral Square Park, in honor of the victims, heroes, and first responders of September 11th.
The program includes Mozart’s Requiem and Barber’s "Adagio for Strings", conducted by Maestro Richard Hynson. Featured soloists are Rebecca Whitney, Nicole Warner, Gregory Schmidt, and Gerard Sundberg.
The Milwaukee Fire Department Honor Guard will present the colors in a processional march, and faith leaders from the Interfaith Conference of Greater Milwaukee will present an invocation, reflections, and prayer for the future.
A patriotic prelude featuring the Midwest Vocal Express male a cappella chorus and the Bel Canto Boy Choirs will begin at 2:15 p.m. Audience members will also have an opportunity to make a prayer flag with wishes of remembrance, peace, hope, healing, or understanding. All materials will be free and available in Cathedral Square from 2 to 3 p.m., organized by the Peace and International Issues Committee of the Interfaith Conference of Greater Milwaukee.
The concert is free and open to the public, and audience members are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs in order to enjoy this concert event. Premium tickets are also available for purchase.
Milwaukee Public Television (MPTV) will present a live broadcast of the concert on channel MPTV 10.1, and a rebroadcast at 6:30 PM on MPTV 36.1.

P&H employee giving campaign raises funds for Habitat for Humanity
P&H Mining Equipment Inc., has raised over $115,000 in support of Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity during its two-week employee giving campaign this summer. P&H employees contributed over $57,000 to the campaign and their gifts were matched dollar-for-dollar by P&H. Proceeds from the campaign will support the construction of new Habitat homes in Milwaukee.
“Milwaukee Habitat is thrilled to have the financial support from all levels of P&H employees,” said Brian Sonderman, executive director of Milwaukee Habitat. “This new partnership is unprecedented and is a true example of how companies can partner with Milwaukee Habitat to have a tremendous impact in the community.”
 In addition to the employee giving campaign, P&H will host a Golf Outing on September 19, 2011 to benefit Milwaukee Habitat. The company is also providing full sponsorships for the construction of four homes during Milwaukee Habitat’s next Blitz Build week, September 12-16th, 2011. 
 “Part of our community focus is to support organizations that strengthen the neighborhoods that surround P&H and Habitat is a leading organization in building stronger communities,” said Randy Baker, P&H president and chief operations officer. “We have a highly skilled workforce that is looks forward to using their talents to lend a hand and make a direct and tangible impact in the community.” 

Deadlines approach for BizTimes Giving Guide
BizTimes Milwaukee will release the 2012 edition of its annual Giving Guide, Regional Philanthropic Opportunities, a print and digital publication to showcase nonprofit organizations seeking support from the business community, this fall.
In addition to featuring sponsored content from nonprofit organizations throughout southeastern Wisconsin, the Giving Guide also will feature a condensed version of the online BizTimes Nonprofit Directory and will highlight individuals and corporations that donate their time, talent or treasure to the nonprofit community in southeastern Wisconsin.
BizTimes is asking local nonprofit organizations to nominate people who have given back to the community with their time, talent or treasure. Those people will be featured in the Giving Guide. Deadline to submit nominations for the volunteer profiles is Friday, Sept. 16. The deadline for sponsored content in the giving guide is Friday, Sept. 30.
The Giving Guide, Regional Philanthropic Opportunities is a glossy four-color magazine that highlights nonprofit organizations that have a presence in southeastern Wisconsin. It will be published and distributed along with an issue of BizTimes Milwaukee this fall and will also be available online in a digital page turn format. It will include information on nonprofit organizations involved with the arts and humanities, health and human services, foundations and fundraising.
“The BizTimes Giving Guide provides opportunity for nonprofit organizations throughout southeastern Wisconsin to connect with the businesses and the key business executives of the region,” said Dan Meyer, publisher of BizTimes Milwaukee. “The nonprofit industry is an important sector of our local economy. The guide is a great resource for the nonprofits, as well as business people who are looking for ways to serve.”
Space in the Giving Guide can be purchased and includes a year-long two page spread in the print and online edition of the Giving Guide, logo recognition in Giving Guide promotional ads, 10,000 impressions on BizTimes.com, a text link and an ad in an issue of BizTimes Nonprofit Weekly as well as logo placement next to the organization listing in the BizTimes Nonprofit Directory.
The Giving Guide is the latest addition to BizTimes Media LLC’s commitment to the region’s nonprofit community.
