  • Friday, Nov. 19 Menomonee Valley Partners Inc., needs volunteers to help stack bricks from the Menomonee Valley Chimneys left as remnants of the Milwaukee Road Shops. Plans have been made to use many of the bricks for a future project that will beautify the Menomonee Valley and commemorate the chimneys. Volunteers are asked to meet at 3 p.m. on Canal St., near the 35th St. Viaduct.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 30 The Helen Bader Institute for Nonprofit Management at UW-Milwaukee will host an open house event to celebrate its continued work and its new location. The event will be held at the UWM Alumni House, 3230 E. Kenwood Blvd, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. An RSVP is requested and can be done so here.

  • Wednesday, Dec. 1 The YWCA of Greater Milwaukee will host it’s sixth annual Evening to Promote Racial Justice at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, Bradley Pavilion. CNN anchor and special correspondent, Soledad O’Brien will be the keynote speaker for the event. A cash bar and hors d’oeuvres will begin at 5 p.m. and the annual eliminating racism and empowering women awards will beginat 6:30 p.m. Cost to attend is $50 per person or $20 for students. Tickets can be purchased online at www.ywcamilw.org.  
  • Friday, Nov. 26 through Monday, Dec. 27 The 25th Annual Candy Cane Lane will be set up in the city of West Allis from 92 St to 96 St. between Oklahoma and Montana Ave., The neighborhood will be transformed into a winter wonderland benefitting the MAAC Fund and children with cancer.
  • Saturday, Nov. 20 Hunger Task Force’s Free & Local truck will participate in this year’s Holiday Parade throughout downtown Milwaukee. The truck will be festively decorated and will be trailed by Johnson Controls volunteers with grocery carts. Community members can donate non-perishable food items along the entire parade route.

  • Friday Nov. 19 The Harvest for the Homeless musical benefit concert will be held at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, 3302 N. Sherman Blvd, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The concert will feature Gervis Myles and Friends, Trefor Williams and the Milwaukee Metropolitan Voices along with other local artists.  Concert proceeds will benefit The Salvation Army Emergency Lodge. Admission to the concert are toiletries including soap, deodorant, lotion, shampoo, toothpaste, hats, scarves, gloves, non-perishable food items or cash donations.
