Saturday, Oct. 16 The Boys & Girls Club of Kenosha will host its Big Red Tailgate party at the UAW Local 72 headquarters, 3615 Washington Road, from 2 to 5 p.m. More than 40 Wisconsin Craft beers will be available for sampling, live music from the Jimmy LeRose band and raffles for two large screen tvs as well as a silent auction. Thursday, Oct. 21 Easter Seals of Southeastern Wisconsin will host its Second Annual Thought Leader Luncheon at the Pfister Hotel from 11a.m. to 2 p.m. Tom Kunz, recent past president and CEO of Century 21 Real Estate will be the keynote speaker at the event and will talk about making more than just a charitable gift through cause marketing initiatives. Kunz has also written a new book entitled: Connecting Corporate Investments to Branding and Community Impact.  Under Kunz’s leadership Century 21 System has contributed more than 100 million dollars to Easter Seals around the country.

Thursday, Oct. 21, The Helen Bader Institute for Nonprofit Management at UW-Milwaukee, in partnership with the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee, will host a forum at the center from 8:30 to 11 a.m. The Forum is designed to challenge participants to learn and discuss common practices in volunteer management and recruitment, the advantages of adopting more strategic approaches during challenging times. Jeffrey Brudney, volunteer management scholar and the Albert A. Levin chair of Urban Studies and Public Service at the Maxine Goodman School of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University will keynote the event and highlight three steps an organization can take in involving volunteers. There is no cost to attend but space is limited and reservations are required by October 15.
 
Thursday, Oct.  28, The Milwaukee Public Library Foundation will honor the Richard and Ethel Herzfeld Foundation and Gale Klappa, CEO of Wisconsin Energy Corporation at the Benjamin Franklin Awards, which annually honors those who have made significant contributions to literacy and life-long learning. The event will be held at the Central Library, 814 W. Wisconsin Ave., from 5 to 9 p.m.  This “Taste of Central Library” features a menu of literary inspired delicacies served in Art & Music, Science & Business, Humanities, and the Betty Brinn Children’s Rooms. Proceeds provide books and materials for the library system, special programming, and scholarships to train public service librarians.
