  • Saturday, May 26 The state of Wisconsin will celebrate Ten Chimneys Day and the Ten Chimneys Foundation in Genesee Depot will offer 200 free tours of the National Historic Landmark estate. Ten Chimneys Foundation is offering these 200 complimentary tours as a “thank you” to the community and the state that have supported it. Each guest is treated to the full “Ten Chimneys Experience” and is also invited to attend a special cake, coffee, and champagne reception at 9:00am. The State of Wisconsin recognizes May 26th of every year as Wisconsin State Ten Chimneys Day, paying tribute to the historic significance of Ten Chimneys and the ongoing impact of Ten Chimneys Foundation. May 26 also marks the 90th anniversary of the marriage of Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne (1922), the anniversary of Ten Chimneys’ opening to the public (2003), and the anniversary of Ten Chimneys’ dedication as a National Historic Landmark (2004). Ten Chimneys is the estate lovingly created by Broadway legends Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne. With no ropes and nothing under glass, guests are treated to a VIP guided tour of a National Historic Landmark replete with original furnishings and overflowing with the romance of the 1930s and ’40s. The tours will be given away through a drawing on Wednesday, May 2nd and will be valid for Ten Chimneys Day on Saturday, May 26th. One-hundred entrants will be randomly selected to receive 2 complimentary Full Estate Tour admissions, regularly $35 per person, for Saturday, May 26. Entrants may also call (262) 968-4161 ext. 205 to complete a form by phone. One entry per household. Households that won tickets in 2011 are not eligible.
  • Monday, May 28 Repairers of the Breach daytime resource center for the homeless will host it’s 17th annual Memorial Day Picnic for the Homeless from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Martin Luther King Park, 14th and Vliet St. Barbecue will be served at noon and music games and special services for military veterans will also take place.
  • Friday, June 1 Schlitz Audubon Nature Center will host its ninth annual gala fundraiser, “The Earth Laughs in Flowers” beginning at 6 p.m. at the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center, 1111 Brown Deer Rd., Bayside. The program will include cocktails, silent auction, live auction and a dinner. Guests may also attend a guided hike of the Center grounds beginning at 5:30p.m. Money raised at the event will support environmental education programs at Schlitz Audubon Nature Center. Cost to attend is $200 a person. Dinner will be provided by Lee John’s Catering.   • Tuesday, June 5 Northwoods Software will host a workshop on building better websites for nonprofit organizations from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Northwoods’ headquarters, 4600 West Schroeder Drive in Brown Deer. Workshop attendees will learn techniques and practices needed for a successful and results-driven nonprofit website. The event is free to attend or $5 if you’d like lunch.   • Saturday, June 9 First Stage Children’s theater will host it’s 25th anniversary gala at Pier Wisconsin, 500 N. Harbor Drive, from 6 to 11 p.m. The black tie event will include cocktails and hors d’oeuvres followed by dinner and a program featuring inspirational stories by current young performers, students and alumni of First Stage. The evening will conclude with dancing to the music of Swing Nouveau.
  • Thursday, June 14 Danceworks Inc., will host the 4th annual Mad Hot Celebration at La Lune Collection, 930 E. Burleigh St., from 7 to 10 p.m. The Mad Hot Celebration celebrates another successful year of Danceworks Mad Hot Ballroom and Tap program, which this year brought needed arts education to approximately 2,200 4th-6th graders from 43 Milwaukee schools. The fundraiser features winning dancers of the 2012 MHBT Competition, which was held on May 12 at the Bradley Center, as well as an Opportunity Raffle of fabulous arts and entertainment packages, including unique Danceworks experiences. Hosts for the evening are Mario and Cathy Costantini, with event sponsor La Lune Collection. Cocktail fare for the evening provided by Antigua Mexican and Latin Restaurant.
