*Now through Friday, Aug. 30, The Salvation Army is running a school supplies drive to benefit students in Milwaukee. Needed items include books bags, backpacks, pencils bags and boxes, glue sticks, crayons, colored pencils, No. 2 pencils, spiral notebooks, pocket folders, notebook paper, graph papers, and calculators among other school supplies. Donations can be dropped off at The Salvation Army Distribution Center, located at 5880 N. 60th St. in Milwaukee, on Mondays through Fridays between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. For more information about additional drop-off locations, visit www.SAmilwaukee.org.

*Thursday, Aug. 15, the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee will offer a MKE123 Help Clinic to education area nonprofit organizations on the tools and resources of MKE123.org, a website devoted to connecting and promoting the nonprofit sector. Interested individuals and organizations can sign up for a free 30-minute session with coordinator Matt Brown. Brown will offer sessions between 9 a.m. and noon at the Nonprofit Center, located at 2819 W. Highland Blvd. in Milwaukee. *Saturday, Aug. 17, Mayfair Mall will host a free Back to School Kids Fest featuring arts and crafts activities, live entertainment and games and prizes. The event is tailored toward kids ages 2 to 12 and their families with activities presented by Mayfair retailers. All children must be accompanied by an adult. The fest will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Center Court at Mayfair Mall, located at 2500 N. Mayfair Rd. in Milwaukee. For more information, visit www.mayfairmall.com/events.

*Saturday, Aug. 17, Neighborhood House of Milwaukee will host its annual Back to School Block Party with art activities, a school supplies giveaway, a raffle featuring educational prizes, an open skate room, hygiene workshops, food and more. The party, free and open to the public, will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The first 100 K-12 grade attendees will take home backpacks containing school supplies. Neighborhood House of Milwaukee is located at 2819 W. Richardson Pl. in Milwaukee.
