*Saturday, Nov. 7, Discovery World will host STEMfest with support from Time Warner Cable. The fest is part of Time Warner Cable’s Connect a Million Minds Initiative, which bridges youth with hands-on learning opportunities. The event will feature a variety of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) activities and experiments at the museum. The fest, free and open to the public, will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Discovery World is located at 500 N. Harbor Drive in Milwaukee. For more information, click here.

*Monday, Nov. 9, the Association of Fundraising Professionals Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter will celebrate National Philanthropy Day. The 37th annual event calls attention to the differences philanthropists have made in the community with their time, talent and treasure. During the event, AFP will hold a special luncheon to honor a set of accomplished philanthropists. The day will also include an education session centered on ways to attract and retain new donors and new customers. The session will serve nonprofit executives and entrepreneurs alike. National Philanthropy Day will be held at Hyatt Regency Milwaukee, located at 333 W. Kilbourn Avenue in Milwaukee. Registration will begin at 9 a.m., the education session will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the luncheon will begin at noon. Cost for the education session and awards luncheon is $95, cost for the luncheon only is $75, and cost for the education session only is $35. *Thursday, Nov. 12, the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee will hold a workshop focused on processing electronic payments. The workshop, titled “Navigating the Ins and Outs of Electronic Payments,” will cover considerations to make in setting up and accepting electronic payments. Attendees will learn about a variety of electronic payment systems and options, including credit cards, PCI compliance, positive pay, ACH transactions, E-checks and remote deposits. The workshop will be led by Gail Kahovic, accounting manager of the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee, and Jennifer Tarkowski, partner of Wegner CPAs. The event will run from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee, located at 2819 W. Highland Boulevard in Milwaukee. *Thursday, Nov. 12, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation – Wisconsin Chapter will hold its 26th annual “Climbing for a Cure” fundraiser. The event challenges participants to climb the U.S. Bank Building – 47 floors, 94 flights and 985 steps up. The event benefits CFF’s mission to find a cure for cystic fibrosis and support families impacted by the chronic disease. Event participants can take part in the challenge solo or in teams. For individual climbers, the event costs $25. Individuals must also raise at least $50 for CFF’s cause. The event will run from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. with the climb starting at 6:20 p.m. for fire and police individuals and teams, at 6:30 p.m. for corporate teams, 6:40 p.m. for individuals and 7 p.m. for combined-time and relay teams. The event will conclude with a survivor party. The U.S. Bank Building is located at 777 E. Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Milwaukee. For more information on the climb, click here.
