Outgoing University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee chancellor Michael Lovell, United Way of Greater Milwaukee president Mary Lou Young and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel editor Martin Kaiser will receive Peace and Dialogue Awards from the Niagara Foundation on Friday.
Lovell, who will become the next president of Marquette University, will receive the Niagara Education Award. Young will receive the Niagara Community Service Award. Kaiser will receive the Niagara Media Award.
The awards will be given by the Niagara Foundation, which was created in 2004 by a group of Turkish-American businessmen and educators. The foundation is active in nine Midwestern states with 22 branches. The foundation tags the Niagara Falls as a metaphor to underline the importance of the cooperation and understanding among diverse groups of people.
The awards will be given during a ceremony at the Milwaukee Athletic Club on Friday, April 25, with the welcoming reception starting at 6:30 p.m. BizTimes publisher Dan Meyer will be the master of ceremonies.
